Romeo and Juliet – Tybalt Quotes

“Fetch me my rapier, boy” After Tybalt discovers that Romeo has crashed Capulets party, his first response is to get a sword and start a fight when he feels his pride has been injured. This shows how he is easily angered and provoked. He hates the Montagues, but doesnt have a valid reason to.
“Turn thee, Benvolio! look upon thy death.” He is provoking Benvolio to a fight by making fun of him, implying that he is not a real man until he turns and fights with a worthy opponent – Tybalt.
“Peace? I hate that word.” He is questioning Benvolio for having a sword out and talking about peace at the same time. He repeats the word “hate” when talking about hell and all Montagues. He carries this fued with him everywhere he goes. He uses Montague and hell in the same phrase which shows that, that is what he thinks of them, almost like a comparison.
“You are a saucy boy.” Capulet insults Tybalt by calling him this. The word “saucy” is implying that he is rude and has a lack of respect for people. The use of the word “boy” suggests that Tybalt is immature because he is always looking for an opportunity to fight to improve his reputation of being a man.
