What plan do Polonius, Claudius and Ophilia now put into action? They tell Ophilia to go into her room and read aloud, to observe what Hamlet is saying to her.

How does Hamlet treat Ophelia in this section? Why do you think he does this? He’s mean to her. To make her believe he’s insane.
At the end of this scene, what does the King decide to do with Hamlet? He decides to send him to England to get the money England owes Denmark. He sends him to help ease his troubled mind.
What does Hamlet ask Horatio to do? Watch his uncle to see if he has a guilty reaction.
Summarize what happens in the play-within-a-play? King and a queen, the women leaves and a man comes in and poisons him through the ears. The queen comes back and finds him dead.
What is the King’s reaction to the play? He tries to leave the play as soon as possible.
As Hamlet goes to his mother at the end of this scene, what does he admonish himself to do? Speak harshly to her but not kill her.
What Claudius ask Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to do? Sends them to England on diplomatic buisness and to watch Hamlet.
What do Rosencrantz and Guildenstern say in support of Claudius? They go to England, to show respect to the king.
What does Claudius find nearly impossible to do? He can’t pray, he murdered someone, he feels so guilty.
Why doesn’t Hamlet kill Claudius when he discovers him in an attitude of prayer? If he’s praying then he’ll go to heaven. He wants to kill him when he’s sinning so he’ll go to hell.
What does Polonius urge the Queen to do? Scold Hamlet for the way he’s been behaving.
Under what misapprehension does Hamlet slay Polonius? He thinks it’s Claudius behind the curtain.
Hamlet says to his mother, “You go not till I set you up a glass/ Where you may see the inmost part of you.” Beginning in line 55, in what way does he do this? Reflect, and to see that she’s being blinded by the devil AKA claudius.
Why does the Ghost appear to Hamlet again? Hamlet needs to get it together.
What does Hamlet ask of his mother? To repent of her sins.
