Why does Nick even stay with Myrtle when he is married to the “best” (daisy)? Because she is low maintenance ( even though she thinks Tom buys her luxurious items when really they are just better than the trash she can afford) and since he is so rich and Myrtle knows who he is really married to and how powerful they are, he can treat her like an object and competently control her because she feels less than him.
