What did Wilson do to Myrtle? locked her in her room until they are able to get away from the area; because he suspected she was unfaithful
What does Gatsby think about Daisy’s relationship with Tom? he believes that she never really loved Tom
What is Daisy’s reaction to both men? confused; torn between the two; wants to escape with Gatsby but realizes that a permanent relationship with him would not work; needs Tom, his security; the child they have together
What happens on the way home from New York City? driving Gatsby’s car, Daisy hits Myrtle and doesn’t stop; Myrtle is killed; Daisy is driving to help calm herself after the confrontation between Jay and Tom
How do these people react to Myrtle’s death? first instinct of Tom is to protect himself by telling Wilson that the yellow car was not his; Gatsby is concerned for Daisy – doesn’t want her to be upset; Nick feels sick and wants to be left alone
Why did Myrtle run out towards Gatsby’s car? she thought Tom and Jordan (Myrtle thought Jordan was his wife) was in the yellow car because she had seen them in it earlier; she was running towards them because of jealousy and desperation
