Nihilism – King Lear

Nothing will come of nothing Lear says this after Cordelia says ‘nothing’ it means that if you give nothing, you will get nothing, it is basically how the society works
O ruined piece of nature Lear values nature above anything, so the fact it is ruined highlights the downfall of the world
Is this the promised end? Edmund reiterates what Lear says at the beginning ‘While we unburdened crawl toward death’ by saying that that crawl has reached the end
While we unburdened crawl toward death Lear knows that everyone will die at some point, as he is old (older than the average age of death) he knows his will be soon – hence the division
The idea of creation from nothing…runs completely contrary to Lear’s doctrine
