Macbeth (IV, I, 90-98)Then live, Macduff. What need I fear of thee?But yet I’ll make assurance double sure,And take a bond of fate. Speaker: MacbethAudience: All 3 witchesMacbeth does not need to kill Macduff. He will garuntee his own fate by having Macduff killed. This way he can conquer his fear.Macbeth has no reason to fear Macduff. But then he sees the image of Banquo’s children becoming king.

Speaker: MacbethAudience: LennoxWhen Macbeth finds out that Macduff has fled to England,Macbeth states that from now on as soon as he decides to do something he is going to act immediately. He will start by raiding the city of fife. There he will kill Macduffs wife, children, and anyone else unfortunate enough to try to protect him.
Lady Macbeth (V,I,37-39)The thane of Fife had a wife; where is she now?— What, will these hands ne’er be clean?—No more o’ that, my lord, no more o’ that: you mar all with this starting. Speaker: Lady MacbethAudience: Gentlewoman, DoctorLady Macbeth was paranoid. She was saying that Macduff had a wife and what happened to her? Oh yeah she died. She asks why will her hands never be clean from all of the sin she has done. But then states that she is done sinning and Macbeth should stop acting startled because only bad things come from that.
