Why does Polonius send Reynaldo to France to spy on Laertes ? Reynaldo will not face Laertes directly. He will spread a rumor about laertes( drinking etc) to see how people react.- This will show Polonius whether his son listened to his advice.

Jephthah – hamlet calls Polonius this.- Jephthah was a judge/ warrior in (biblical times) Israel… led battle of Israelites against Ammanites. – he makes a deal with God, if God helps him win the battle he will sacrifice the first thing he sees when he returns home. He wins the battle and sees his daughter- Jephthah sacrifices his daughter
How does the story of Jephthah relate to Polonius? They both are sacrificing their daughters.- Polonius is sacrificing Ophelia by taking away a life she truly wants. She wants to be with Hamlet.
