Why do you think that everyone in the world of Fahrenheit 451 thinks that, as Beatty puts it, “nothing will ever happen to me…there are no consequences and no responsibilities”? Is this similar to people in our society today? The people in this society lack morals and feel little emotion. You can’t have morals if you don’t feel things, so they don’t know about right and wrong. Similar to our internet where people think there is no responsibility because they won’t get caught.

Beatty’s eyes widen because he is shocked that Montag would actually stand up to him. In the past Montag would not have done this. Montag killed him because he was fed up with what Beatty stood for.
